QUESTION 6 EVALUATION
QUESTION 6:
When creating and planning my opening sequence I used prezi; a way of presenting information as a presentation with many effects to make the viewer feel engaged. Slide rocket; a presentational device wich allows you to add slides with music, pictures and videos allowing you to change the layout and font. Scribd, a device that allows you to present information in an organised and neat way. Bubbl a software that allows you to mind map ideas and suggestions using bubbles. Screen cast, a way of presenting pictures and information in a visual way by grabbing pictures and presenting them with text. I have also videoed myself for a directors commentary to present my information in a visual way.
In the process of this, when planning on my blog and producing my opening sequence I learnt how to use the Apple Mac computers as they were brand new to me. I learnt the basics on how to use it and then developed my skills by the class sharing their knowledge. I also learnt how to use a Tri Pod and a Fig Rig when shooting my film to create steady and efficient shots. I have become familiar with using this technology and have gained skills on how to use different Apple applications such as; Live type, Final cut and fire fox.
When creating my titles post I have used IMovie which has allowed me to create something very creative and successful as I have been able to add videos, different fonts, music, sound and effects to present my findings and information. Slide rocket has allowed me to present information that I have collected with pictures effectively. I would personally say that when using the Fig Rig it needs a carefully thought process and planning to be made before hand due to knowing which shots it will be used for and which shots would be best suited for it. When adding in the music for my opening sequence I had to make sure it was perfect and fitted well in with the pace of the shots. I had to re-do the music several times and change it frequently to make sure that it looked in sync with the rest of the piece.

QUESTION 1 EVALUATION
QUESTION 1
After looking into the opening sequences have become more knowledgeable with what needs to go into an opening sequence. The conventions that are usually expected and seen are; titles and logo's, slow paced editing, establishing shots and music. These conventions are usually used to help the viewer engage into the opening sequence. For instance, slow paced editing allows the audience to become engaged and switched on with what is being shown. It also allows them to question what is being shown and why as it is being shown for a long amount of time. In Bridget Jones an extreme close up had been used on her face to show expression. We could clearly tell that the character felt depressed and sad therefore allowing us to ask why. When creating my opening sequence we thought carefully about how we was going to engage our audience. We did this by adding in music to create and airy and intense atmosphere.
We also used a fair amount of extreme close up's to give away clues about the characters lives. I felt that this worked effectively due to our response from our peer assessment.
However, when creating our opening sequence not only did we had to think about the conventions of an opening sequence we also had to think about the conventions of a Thriller. The conventions of a Thriller would be; fast paced editing to make the viewer feel intense and excited; dark and gloomy setting to set the scent and give off and automatic airy atmosphere; extreme close ups to show small tiny details and long shots to show the set and place situated; high pitched sound to make the mood intense and uncomfortable or lack of music to make a suspense.
For example, in the 6th Sense high pitched music had been used to make the mood creepy and make the audience feel intense. This had been used when the titles are shown; automatically set a dark and dingy mood. In my opening sequence we use extreme close up's to show creepy and strange objects in the house. We also used high pitched draining music to make Michaels character stand out and imply that he wasn't a very nice character. The setting we used for the first half of the opening sequence was a train station. We decided to use this as at night it can seam quite creepy and abandoned with strange noises form the tracks.
During the opening sequence we decided to use a contrast's of different moods. We firstly start off with a creepy and intense mood set at a train station and then decide to change the uncomfortable mood into a more relaxed and confused mood. We done this by showing many extreme close up's of different objects around the house allowing the viewer to understand more about the character. However, this may confuse to viewer and allow them to ask questions as to why they are being shown this and what relevance it has to the rest of the film. We got this idea from Spiderwick Chronicals as we like the way they had used an exciting and lively setting but with an airy atmosphere created by the character. We also like the way that opening sequence showed us many different objects and got us asking questions about what they are. In my opening sequence we have created a young girl which would be associated in a young social group. We have used high heals, pink and bright colours, make up, girly bath products, girly clothes, make up and a bottle of wine to represent to the audience that the character is a young girl. We used extreme close up's to show that the character owns or has these belongings in her house hold. It automatically lets the viewer know that the character is modern urban and young. We have stereotypically made out the girl to be girly and pink as we wanted to create a venerable and innocent character.
